This year we had a lot of fun while playing pep band. We added a few new songs that were very challenging at first. " Don't stop believing" is my favorite out of the 4 in number 42. That song has a lot of challenging parts but it is, in my opinion the best song out of the 4. Also we really took the time to really learn some of the songs we already had. Lastly, I think that we sounded very good at most of the games. Some games didn't go so well, but that just means that we had to practice a little more. I think that I should get a B for pep band. I showed up to as many games as I could. I always played my hardest when I was at the games. Lastly my section and I really worked on matching notes.
Pep band is important at Newark for a couple reasons. One reason is it provides a challenge to the band members to learn more songs. Also it provides some enterztainemnt at the games. Lastly it gets the student section involved in some of our songs.
I have a few favorite pep band songs. A few songs that I like are, seven nation army, crazy train, and wipe out. I like these songs because they are all up beat and challenging songs. I have a few songs that I don't like as well. These songs are, Smoke on the water, number 42, and chuck a duck. All of these songs are not my favorite because they are slower songs or they don't have fun french horn parts.
One specific song that I really like is wipe out. In measure 33 we had to learn how to go from a D to a C#. We have never played a C# until we started looking at wipe out.
If I could add any song to pep band it would be "my house," by flo rida. This specific song is very up beat and has a lot of parts.
