Day of infamy is the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, just before the start of world War II. Day of infamy was described by President Roosevelt as "a day we live in infamy."
On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked a U.S naval base outside of Hawaii. They attacked the base at 7:48, by 353 imperial Japanese planes. All 8 of the U.S ships were damaged, 4 of them sank. The Japanese also damaged 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, and one mine layer. The Japanese only lost 29 aircraft and 5 midget submarines. The attack had no warning, and no declaration of war, which cause the attack to be called a war crime. The united states retaliated by dropping 2 five ton atomic bombs on Japan.
